Haiku hallucinations (Japenese form of poetry)

Synopsis: We all have been used to the usual rhyming sort of english poetry....but heres another genere of poetry all together called HAIKU. The term itself is a Japanese connotation; it is a 17-syllable verse form consisting of three metrical units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables.Haiku poetry was to be written, read and understood as an independent poem, complete in itself, rather than  being a part of a longer chain. wach HAIKU though small in terms of content, expresses a sort of emotion evoked by the poet. Heres are 2 Haiku's from the works of noted Classical Japanese poet Matsuo Basho. Its translated for the reader's convinience ..


HAIKU-1


年暮れぬ

笠きて草鞋
はきながら


Toshi kurenu
Kasa kite waraji
Hakinagara

Term by term meaning: 
kureru: - get dark, come to an end. The nu suffix expresses

completeness: toshi kurenu - The year has come to an end.


Translation:Another year is gone;
and I still wear
straw hat and straw sandal.






HAIKU -2

借りて寝む
案山子の袖や
夜半の霜


Karite nemu
kakashi no sode ya
yowa no shimo


Term by term meaning:
nemu is from neru - to sleep. The mu suffix

indicates intention or conjecture.


Translation:
I would sleep,
borrowing the sleeve of the scarecrow.
Midnight frost.
